LASG Disburses N538.9 Million to 250 Beneficiaries of Deceased Staff

Lagos State News The Lagos State Government, in conjunction with LASACO Assurance Plc and Consortium of Underwriters/Brokers, has paid N538, 964, 241: 59 Million as insurance benefits to 250 beneficiaries of 102 deceased staff who died in active service of the State Government. Speaking at the presentation of cheques to the beneficiaries on Monday at STO Resort Centre, CBD, Alausa, Ikeja, the Lagos State Head of Service (HOS), Mr. Hakeem Muri-Okunola stated that the payment to the beneficiaries of deceased staff is an indication that the administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu holds the welfare of its staff in high esteem. Muri-Okunola, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Public Service Office, Mrs. Olasunkanmi Oyegbola, emphasised that the State Government attaches great importance to the provision of insurance policies for its workforce. Lagos State News …Governor Supports Initiative for Rehabilitation, Reintegration of Vagrants It was an emotional moment for Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Tuesday, when he listened to firsthand stories of young boys and girls retrieved from the streets in different parts of Lagos. The Governor literally winced in discomfort, as he paid attention to heartbroken narratives of how the youngsters suffered social exclusion and ended up on the streets. Some of them were victims of low parental attachment and family disintegration. Others left home after suffering abuse, while some took to surviving on the streets when they became orphans. They had their hopes dashed and dreams shattered; they constituted urban nuisances and were seen as menaces before they were rescued. The victims’ stories are now turning positive through “Eko Inspire Me” - a project single-handedly sponsored by Gov. Sanwo-Olu. LASG ANNOUNCES TRAFFIC DIVERSION FOR APC PRESIDENTIAL AND GUBERNATORIAL RALLIES The Lagos State Government has announced traffic diversion for the upcoming All Progressive Congress (APC) Presidential and Gubernatorial rallies scheduled to hold on Saturday, 26th November, 2022 at Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, Lagos State from 9.00am to 4.00pm. Commissioner for Transportation, Dr Frederic Oladeinde made this known on Wednesday through a statement released by the Ministry advising Lagosians to plan their movement around Teslim Balogun Stadium, Funsho Williams Avenue and Alhaji Masha areas in Surulere. Oladeinde revealed that human and vehicular movement around the affected areas would be regulated as there would be series of traffic diversions for safety and security management purposes. Sanwo-Olu, Hamzat Attend Burial Of Lagos Lawmaker

Bolaji Elegushi A member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Abdulsobur Olawale, who died in Jos, Plateau State on Tuesday has been buried at the Ebony vaults, Ikoyi. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, his deputy, Hamzat Obafemi and the speaker Mudashiru Obasa and other members of the legislative arm attended the burial. Olawale slumped and was pronounced dead at the hospital he was rushed to in Jos. He had been in Jos for the kick-off of the presidential campaign of the All Progressives Congress candidate, Bola Tinubu. Olawale represented Mushin II constituency until his death.

FEDERAL HIGH COURT REMANDS IKUFORIJI

 The Federal High Court in Lagos have remanded the BALOGUN of Epe, Chief Olajide Ikuforiji. Ikuforiji is facing a charge of forgery and had once been granted bail, this bail was on Monday at the trial revoked by the sitting Justice Abdulazeez Anka.  A new bail condition was granted to Chief Olajide Ikuforiji and this must be met before his release from the Nigeria Correctional Center, where he was remanded. In lieu of this, the counsels to the defendant have put machineries in place to meet up with the bail condition. However, the traditional institution in Epe had cleansed itself of stains and integrity and had since relieved him of his title in the community.

  Late Alhaji Ganiu Akanni In the late hours of Thursday 10th of November, 2020 a football veteran was declared dead.  This painful exit of Alhaji Ganiu Akanni gripped many ex-footballers, colleagues, friends and family members. Alhaji Ganiu Akanni was the senior brother of Alhaji Waidi Akanni, who at this moment is the most affected due to their close ties and commitment to the welfare of ex and present sport persons. Alhaji Ganiu Akanni had since been buried on Friday 11th of November, 2022 according to Islamic rites.  May his soul rest peacefully in Aljanat Fridaus. Ameen. May the Almighty gives everyone the strength to bear this untimely loss.

…LSDPC Regenerates Criminal Hideout, Builds 20-Unit Apartments for Residents From the dust of a filthy parcel of land emerges the Love Garden - an elegantly designed residential development in Surulere built by the Lagos State Development and Property Corporation (LSDPC). Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Tuesday, led members of the State cabinet to commission the 20-unit two-bedroom apartments located on Olorogun-Allen Street, Surulere.  The opening of the mini-housing scheme was greeted by spontaneous jubilation in the neighbourhood.
