 LASG Releases 2026/2027 School Calendar For Public And Private Schools The Lagos State Government has approved and released the 2026/2027 Harmonised Academic Calendar for all public and private primary and secondary schools in the State. The announcement was made by the Honourable Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Jamiu Tolani Alli-Balogun, following consultations with education stakeholders which was facilitated by the Office of Education Quality Assurance (OEQA). According to the Commissioner, the calendar was finalised after two stakeholders' meetings where participants reviewed and agreed on key dates for the new academic session. The approved calendar outlines school resumption dates, mid-term breaks, examination periods and holidays.  LAGOS RAISES ALARM OVER SAND SCARCITY AS INDISCRIMINATE DREDGING THREATENS CONSTRUCTION AND FOOD SECURITY.  The Lagos State Government has raised fresh concerns over the growing dangers associated with indiscriminate dredging activities across the state, warning that the increasing scarcity and high cost of sand could trigger wider economic, environmental, and food security challenges if urgent measures are not taken.  LAGOS STATE GOVERNMENT MINISTRY OF TRANSPORTATION PRESS RELEASE LAGOS STATE MOVES TO PRODUCE BIOGAS, REDUCE DEPENDENCE ON IMPORTED FUEL The Lagos State Government has announced plans to begin the commercial production of biogas and bio-methane as part of efforts to reduce dependence on imported fuel and promote a cleaner environment. To achieve this, the State has set up a Technical Committee made up of different Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs). The Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, made this known during the annual Ministerial Press Briefing while presenting the Ministry’s achievements. Mr. Osiyemi said a feasibility study confirmed that biogas and bio-methane are good alternatives to diesel. He explained that Lagos generates about 13,000 metric tonnes of waste daily, with 45 percent being organic waste that can be used to produce bio-methane fuel locally at a lower cost.
